I want to use it mainly for the timeline, so I create the timeline overlay and use the preset. It appears to be properly creating the log, and it looks like there should be no firewall problem. I see no obvious errors.

It might not have the exact end of battle though so you probably can't upload the parse to fflogs, though. ACT will keep running in the mini parse as long as I don't tab out and click in the actual ACT window. Once it stops responding, all I get is a blue "working circle" and can't click on anything. If I go back in game the mini parse is frozen.
