It's most likely the root cause of the AC issue, or a faulty interconnect, -if you're lucky. Check all CUE-related fuses first. At first the voice button on the steering wheel stopped working. Then the lower buttons on the touch screen did not work. Now the entire screen has stopped working. I am outside of the warranty period.

However, the device has to be able to detect the touch. I suspect some inanimate objects may not work. If the object is at the same or less temperature than the device, it may not recognize the touch. But, that is just a guess.The motor was not running. That lead me to the pump as the problem.
