Saying that the "broadcast provider" has restricted the content doesn't change to fact that it's DirecTV Streams contract that is blocking this. I could go through a different content provider and not be blocked. Happening on TCM is one thing, but when it happens on local channels of major broadcast affiliates it makes it especially frustrating.

DirecTV did NOT drop NBC. They are not allowed to carry the channel currently. The station owner (Tegna) is holding their local affiliate stations away in an attempt to get a higher rate for the new carriage agreement. So yes, Tegna does have the right to restrict you from watching on the app. You are in their market so they control it.
