If it is a winter problem, you will have to dry the entire trunk seal, as well as the area that the trun-klid contacts with the seal, after every car wash. When I hit the trunk unlock on the fob, the lights don't respond and I don't hear a clicking sound by the fusebox either. I'm thinking it could be an electrical issue, but the license plate lights (which seem to be attached to the physical trunk release button and run on the same cord) both seem to be working.My trunk latch has always worked fine. I have a 2012 Chevy Cruz and the trunk was opening daily as in I would go out and shut it at least 4 times in an 8 hour work day. I took it in and the Dealership replaced a part in it and said it was covered under warranty as the Cruz's were known for this. You couldn't open it with the button under the trunk, you had to use the FOB.
