The filter is under the transmission warmer, there is a strainer and it is reachable when you remove the transmission pan. Bottom line is that Honda's CVT is a great transmission imho. Compared to my 2008 Accord I get about 10 more miles per gallon on the highway—c.37-40 mpg, depending on speed, ac use, etc.. But having 3 replacement transmissions in my 2000 4 cyl accord and reading on edmunds that the honda hybirds (up through about 2005 or so) with the CVT had stuttering/vibration issues and now people having the same issues with the accord CVT - I think honda hasn't resolved the CVT issues yet and I have decided to pass.
