If the same sensors have trouble in the new spots, we'll know that we want to replace the sensors. If new sensors have trouble in the same spots, then it's likely an environmental issue. - Johnny M.

It was more useful in SS2 which only allowed 41 sensors, and if you had a lot of windows in one area, using wired sensors and one modified SS sensor made a lot of sense. Now that SS3 can handle 100, it is less attractive of an option.
