You'll either need to go to a different world, or use a mod to "regenerate" your mountain areas. This is what we did on our world, and it worked fine. #3.

As it stands right now, everything in 500m radius (100m is 50 wooden beams) from where you have been in your world, is considered explored, and won't have new content when new update comes up (unless devs change something).

As long as the mountain you arrive at after the update drops is a "fresh" one, unexplored and unrendered, you should be able to find caves there. As long as the mountain you go to has a chance of having caves in the first place 😅. So u dont need a new world, you just need unexplored terrain. The black forest one has red torches, frost cave has blue, and the plains one is a large very out of place looking tower. only 3 of each will generate in your world. I have no idea if interacting with Hilders map does any camera shenanigans to point you the right way like the boss stones in no map mode but worth a shot.
