Personally I believe the 42re is a reliable transmission. It doesn't really seem to have any common issues, maybe bad solenoids. Mine has 231,000, seems fine. I recently replaced my dipstick with one I bought from the dealer. The marks on the new stick do not line up with the marks on my old one - (ie: I have been running with 5 quarts, the new stick appears it wants to be 6 quarts...) I've read a couple of threads here that say the oil capacity is 6 quarts on the 4.0L.

Fuel pressure should be 49 psi +/- 5 psi at idle. If engine runs but pressure is below 44psi , check for a kinked fuel supply line somewhere between fuel rail and fuel pump module. If line is not kinked, replace fuel pump module assembly. If operating pressure is above 54psi , electric fuel pump is OK, but fuel pressure regulator is defective.
