It's good, not great, but good enough to be my main melee weapon. Really good in pve, hits for 450-550 with a 2h r1, but in pvp I've hit as low as 200 damage with it (and never over 500) with 60 int. The weapon art gives hyper armor too, so you can surprise some people with it for a nice finish if you have enough health.

The beam is purely magic damage and scales with int. The only melee physical damage of the sword scales with dex and strength. I'd say strength if you want to use big damage chonky weapons like the jaw in addition to the Greatsword, and dex if you use mainly spells. The difference is minimum damage wise. Should definitely go dex for cast speed.
