Kind of one of those builds that until Bungie straight tanks it, it's just hard to not use once you're used to it. You're right, and the thing that's really bothersome is that people who are used to it often won't acknowledge the merits of other builds because of that comfort. Like, I prefer Nezarec's or Mantle of BH to Contraverse.

Your grenade uptime will be insanely high with 100 Discipline and Contraverse. I’d go Lucent Finisher and the fragment that makes you invisible after you do a finish. However, if you have an invis Hunter on your team, you can ditch Lucent Finisher and maybe go Bomber for the grenade regen.

Arc warlock is one of the highest raid dps classes in the game actually people just haven't figured it out yet. The other post has a bit more information, but arc souls alone amounted to 24k dps in contest mode on nezerac when given to a full team, which over a 30 second damage phase accounting for nezzy disappearing a couple times is between 650-720k damage per damage phase.I haven't tried any void builds this season in PvP and wanted a good Warlock build. Chaos Accelerant and Contraverse Hold work wonders together, and allow an overcharged Vortex Grenade to have a miniscule cooldown. A standard Vortex Grenade lasts 3.2 seconds, and when overcharged will last 4.2 seconds.This time bump works perfectly with Contraverse Hold because the 2000% grenade regeneration rate increase has an internal cooldown of 1.75 seconds. If you need a good void exotic then you have contraverse hold which will help with Grenade uptime and devour uptime meaning you can get rid of echo of starvation and run feed the void. If you run feed the void and chaos accelerant you can have high orb (volatile kills) and devour uptime. Best warlock build right now?
