Kawasaki engine surges at full throttle.

Aug 16, 2011 · Surging Engine. OK, we have a liquid cooled 27 HP Kawasaki engine model number FD750D-S04. It has a very bad surging problem from half throttle and above as long as it is not under a load. Once the blades are engaged or if you drive up a hill it smooths out and runs great. Another thing is it backfires and sputters when we take it from full ... When slowly rolling the throttle back on, the transition is abrupt, resulting in a jerk/surge. (and you hear the engine firing/running again) This is most noticeable when trying to maintain steady 50+ MPH down hill or flat road. Hi, I have a 2010 Kawasaki FR651V 22 HP v twin. It just started surging as low RPM. I have clean 100% gas, fuel filter was changed about 30 days ago and the air cleaner is clean and new. The sputtering was due to the carbs being extremly dirty. The fixed the jetting and dynoed it. With the mods that I have its 39.6 hp (all internally stock motor). I rode it and could immediately tell there was a difference. Im not sure what jet sizes they used.Check the spark plugs and ignition coils - Worn or malfunctioning ignition coils can also be the culprit behind engine surging. Inspect these components and replace them if necessary. Inspect the fuel filter - A clogged fuel filter can restrict the flow of gasoline to the engine, resulting in engine surging. Replace if needed.

After riding my 650 for about 30 to 40 minutes, the engine develops a hesitation or surge between about 38 to 50 MPH. Up until this point, the engine runs smoothly and is a fun bike to ride.
