I added some foam under the pad to protect the bike and tailgate. I folded the inside corner to prevent it from interfering with the tailgate latch. There is some interference with the strap clip when closing the tailgate with the gooseneck hinge filler plate.

Apr 1, 2021 · I found the ultimate solution for me. It's made by Ride88 and they just made a Rivian specific kit. This thing is awesome. I didn't want a tailgate pad because I didn't want to risk scratching or denting my tailgate and didn't want to mess around with straps. The system I just installed is all bolt in and fits under the tonneau.
