Help with Mec 600 JR. I am trying to load 16 ga on a Mec 600 JR. The shot loading is not working as it should. I am using #6 shot, 1 1/8 oz. The charge bar does not slide easily to the right to drop the shot. It has to be forced. Also the shot does not alway drop completly into the hull. MEC has parts for the Pre-82 ones, though they are a little more money buying right from them. I bought some parts from MEC when I rebuilt my 600 Jr. from the early 70's, and when I recently replaced the collet. Iuvat forte paratus. The reason for the cracked or tore hulls is because of the gun you are shooting. A .410 shotgun that has a very wide open chamber or very tight chamber will cause the shell to expand or shrink and it will burn the pedals/crimp at the end of the shell. This usually will cause that crack and deformation when you go to crimp the shell.I own and rebuild lots of older MEC loaders and have and use many of the older "fixed" bars. The 12-0 bar will still throw 18 to 18.5gr. of Red Dot and 18.5 to 19gr. of Green Dot with 1&1/8oz. of shot. I use these in old MEC 300 and 400 model loaders with Fed. paper hulls.

If this is the tube style I think it is, it is a very early style feeder for a MEC 650. Who did you buy it from?? If they had it as a feeder for a 600 jr. you should be able to return it to them because of miss labeling.
