The pickups/bass overall sounds awesome. Apparently they are custom spec'd Seymour Duncans. Sounds like a P bass but bit more focused (exactly like how JMJ described it). The only real difference is the preamp. I played the one I bought at GC and swapped back and forth with the U.S. Stingray 5 for about 45 minutes. It was a Fender copy before they really made a variation of there own designs, even had the Fender headstock shape. It was a killer bass, I would rate it quality wise right up there with Japan Fenders of the 80's.
